Objective:
Embark on a 32-mile journey through Rochester, NY, by traversing the Genesee Valley Trail, Lehigh Valley Trail, and Auburn Trail, culminating in Victor, NY. The ROC Rail to Trail Trifecta is designed to encourage hikers, cyclists, horseback riders to explore these scenic trails, promote sustainable trail use, and engage with local communities, all while emphasizing the importance of trail conservation.
Participating Parks:
- Genesee Valley Trail – Begins in Rochester and connects to the Lehigh Valley Trail at the Wadsworth Junction.
- Lehigh Valley Trail – Continues from the Genesee Valley Trail, extending towards the Auburn Trail.
- Auburn Trail – Completes the journey, leading participants to the southern terminus in Victor, NY.
Challenges:
- Standard: Complete the trail in segments, allowing flexibility in experiencing the journey over several days.
- Ultra: Complete the entire trail as a thru-hike in one continuous attempt.
- Winter Challenge: Both Standard and Ultra options are available during the winter season, offering a unique challenge through snowy landscapes.
Time Frame:
- Standard challenges can complete the challenge at their own pace, providing flexibility and encouraging year-round engagement.
- ULTRA challenges are thru hikes completed within a 24hr period.
- Start dates may not be prior to the 2023 Calendar year.
Reporting:
Participants must first pay for this registration and then document completion using the online form . This documentation includes dates, times, location, which can be easily tracked using various GPS tracking apps.
Awards and Recognition:
Upon completion of the challenge, participants will receive:
- Challenge Patch: A unique patch for standard or winter challenges
- Challenge Sticker: A matching sticker to your patch
- Tree Planted: We will plant a tree for you to help keep our forests growing beautiful and strong.
- Certificate of Completion: Certificates are issued featuring the participant’s name, last initial, and town/state.
- Public Roster: Names of all finishers will be publicly displayed on a challenge roster to acknowledge their achievements and commitment to trail stewardship.
Pay It Forward:
A portion of the registration fees will be donated to support trail maintenance efforts, ensuring the trails remain safe and enjoyable for future users. These contributions will be directed towards the Friends Groups responsible for each trail’s upkeep.
